How OG Skin Swapping Works & Why You Need High Meshes
Swapping a default skin to a rare "OG" skin like Renegade Raider or Pink Ghoul Trooper is the most popular feature of ExfrySwapper. However, it is also the most technically complex. If you don't configure your game correctly, you will just see a floating head or a default Ramirez.
The Swap Concept
The software tells the game: "Whenever you try to load the texture for the Default Recruit, load the texture for Renegade Raider instead."
This happens locally. The server still thinks you are wearing a Recruit skin (so you don't get banned), but your PC renders the rare skin.
The "High Mesh" Requirement
Why is my skin invisible / broken?
Most OG skins (like Renegade Raider) have unique 3D models (hats, goggles, details). These details require High Meshes to render.
By default, Performance Mode sets Meshes to LOW. This removes hats and accessories to boost FPS.
Result: Skin looks like a default Ramirez.
These modes support full 3D rendering.
Result: Renegade Raider loads perfectly with all details.
How to Fix It
You have two options to make OG skins visible:
- A
Switch to DirectX 11 (Recommended)
Go to Fortnite Settings ➝ Video ➝ Rendering Mode ➝ Select DirectX 11. Restart the game.
- B
Enable High Meshes in Performance Mode
If you MUST use Performance Mode, set Meshes to High in video settings. (Note: This may lower FPS slightly).
